Radiant Barriers help to prevent radiant heat transfer from the sun. The sun’s energy warms the roofing material on an average house in the summer to around 150 degrees. The roof then re-radiates this energy into the home.
Radiant barriers dissapate that heat and reflect some of it back out into space, rather than re-radiating it into your attic as normal building materials do. They can prevent up to 95% of the sun's radiant energy from entering the attic space. Homes built in hot climates will benefit the most from using a radiant barrier.
