The Deltec Zero Energy home is a 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom floorplan that features 1500 square feet of living space. Designed for the US mid-atlantic climate, the energy efficiency features, including super-insulation, air-tight construciton, passive solar design and efficient electrical design, all work together to cut energy bills by two thirds compared to a typical new construction. The remaining third comes from the on-site solar panels.

Energy efficiency is the pinnacle of net-zero home design. Double stud walls, superior performing windows, and modified roof trusses create a superinsulated house. Panelized construction and advanced air sealing create a very air-tight home. Pair this with the inherent energy efficiency of a round design.
Three bedroom layout designed to harness free heating energy from the sun in winter, while keeping out unwanted heat in summer.
Desiged with climate-specific, ultra high efficiency heating and cooling equipment and appliances.
The home will produce as much energy as it consumes with on-site solar array designed for the electrical consumption of the house. Battery-free system to take advantage of local incentives for grid-tied production. Heat water with a Deltec solar hot water kit.
Want a different floorplan, or plan to build in a climate that is very different from the southeastern US? Even though the Zero Energy Home is designed for the mid-atlantic area, our green building department offers a net-zero home design service to help you create your own Zero Energy Home, taylored to your living goals and your local environment. Contact the green department to determine if adapting your design to a net-zero design is a good fit for your project.
Just like green building is not all or nothing, the path to a high-performance house is not a one-sized-fits-all solution. If you are building a home to your own personal green vision, consider upgrading to the advanced components of our high performance building envelope, including double-stud walls or modified roof trusses. These systems will deliver strong energy benefits to off-grid homes, Passive House construction, Energy Star homes, or any home looking to reach a higher level of performance.

Each time the gas company sends out a bill, they include a chart comparing our consumption with their average customer. Always, our consumption is just half of the average. - Ed B., Holcomb, NY
Our past electric bills ranged from $120 to 250. With our 4000 sq. ft. Deltec (around 3 times the size of our old house), our electric bill averages around $120, $130 per month. - Kim M., Magnolia, TX
We love our Deltec home. It is very energy efficient (we have not had a gas bill over $75 this year), spacious, easy to maintain, and incredibly "livable." - Daniel & Lynn W., Wildwood, PA
We have just gone through our first winter and I can't believe how tight this house is, and how it weathers the local winds which are occasionally pretty interesting. - Joseph R., Oakhurst, CA
Using regular windows, floor plan design & sub-tunnels we have such great natural lighting that we almost never need to turn on any lights in the house. - Beth H., Charleston, SC
Even on coldest days in Colorado, our house stays in the low 60s without using the furnace during the day. In the summer it never gets above 75 even if 15 degrees warmer outside. Love my house! - Suzanne M., Buena Vista, CO
