I’ve always wanted a little hut in the forest and after
buying six acres in Madison County and considering several different types
of homes, including log cabins, I decided on the Deltec.
I have appreciated learning to live simply, easily, and minimally in this well made house as it gives me the freedom to enjoy the nature I have chosen to live intimately with. It is a house that does not intrude on nature but blends into the forest.
Digging into the mountain slope on a foundation seemed too much of an invasion into the land. I really wanted to be as unobtrusive and to disturb the forest as little as possible as the beauty and silence of the forest was the reason I wanted to live here.
In spite of having all glass on almost every panel it is easy to keep warm in the winter with my woodstove. In the summer all the windows are open and it feels like I am living with the outside inside; up in the trees with the squirrels and the birds. The cross breezes serve beautifully as an air conditioner.
The high quality of this little house is apparent to anyone who comes to visit. Many are surprised that I live here year around in a one room round house, but I am serenely happy here. I have built my perfect dream house!
